Privacy Policy

Your privacy matters here.

CybrSafer exists to help you stay safer online, not to collect a bunch of information about you in the background. This Privacy Policy explains what information may be collected when you visit this site, how it’s used, and what choices you have.

I’ve tried to keep this plain English, because privacy policies should not require a law degree and three coffees.

Who runs CybrSafer

CybrSafer is an independent website run by one person.

For privacy questions, you can contact me at: contact@cybrsafer.com

02

Information this site collects

CybrSafer may collect information in a few basic ways. Some information is shared by you directly, while other information is collected automatically by normal website tools.

Information you provide directly

You may share information if you leave a comment, submit a contact form, email me directly, or sign up for a newsletter if one is added later. This may include your name, email address, message content, and anything else you choose to include.

Information collected automatically

Like most websites, CybrSafer may collect basic technical information when you visit, such as your browser, device, pages visited, approximate location, referring website, links clicked, and IP address.

  • Browser type
  • Device type
  • Pages visited
  • Time spent on the site
  • Referring website
  • Approximate city or country
  • Links clicked
  • IP address
03

Cookies

CybrSafer may use cookies and similar technologies. Cookies are small files stored on your device. They help websites remember certain things and understand how visitors use the site.

Cookies may be used to keep the site working properly, save comment details if you choose that option, understand traffic and page performance, track affiliate link clicks, prevent spam or abuse, and remember basic preferences.

Your choice:

You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but some parts of the site may not work as expected.

04

Analytics

CybrSafer may use analytics tools, such as Google Analytics or similar services, to understand how visitors use the site.

Analytics may collect information like pages visited, session length, general location, browser type, device type, and referral sources. I use this information to see what content is helpful, what needs improvement, and how people find the site. I do not use analytics to personally identify you.

05

Affiliate links

Some links on CybrSafer are affiliate links. That means if you click a link and buy something, I may earn a commission at no extra cost to you.

Affiliate tracking may use cookies or similar technology to record that you came from this site. Affiliate links do not decide what I recommend. You can read more on the Affiliate Disclosure page.

06

Comments

If comments are enabled and you leave a comment, the site may collect the name you enter, your email address, your comment, your IP address, and your browser user agent. This helps display your comment and reduce spam.

Your email address is not shown publicly. If you use a Gravatar account, an anonymized version of your email address may be sent to Gravatar to check whether you use that service. After your comment is approved, your profile image may appear publicly next to your comment.

07

Contact forms and email

If you contact me through a form or by email, I use the information you provide to respond to your message. I do not sell, rent, or trade contact form submissions. That would be weird, and also very against the point of this site.

I may keep messages for record-keeping, follow-up, or site safety reasons, but I do not keep them longer than necessary.

08

Third-party services

CybrSafer may use third-party services to run the site properly. These services may process limited information as needed to provide their services.

  • Website hosting providers
  • Analytics tools
  • Spam protection tools
  • Security plugins
  • Affiliate networks
  • Email or contact form services
  • Embedded content providers
  • Social media platforms

Some third-party services may process data outside Canada, where it may be subject to that country’s laws.

09

Embedded content from other websites

Pages on CybrSafer may include embedded content, such as videos, posts, images, or other media.

Embedded content behaves as if you visited the other website directly. Those websites may collect data about you, use cookies, track your interaction with the embedded content, or connect that activity to your account if you are logged into their service.

11

How your information is protected

I take reasonable steps to protect information connected to this site. No website can guarantee perfect security, but I try to keep the amount of personal information collected low in the first place. Less collected means less to protect.

  • HTTPS encryption
  • Secure website hosting
  • Limited access to site tools and accounts

12

How long information is kept

If you want to make a privacy request, message me: contact@cybrsafer.com. I may need to verify your identity before responding to certain requests.

14

Children’s privacy

CybrSafer is written for general audiences and is not directed at children.

I do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information through this site, contact me and I’ll take reasonable steps to remove it.
